Such situation might well result in their mutual long-term cooperation, which is precisely the case of the research team at the Institute of Material Science and Engineering and the company ALUCAST , s.r.o., which manufactures precision aluminium casts.
The technological procedure of casting the melt into ceramic moulds and their subsequent cooling has an effect on the resulting quality of thin-wall castings made of aluminium alloys. ALUCAST, s.r.o. has developed technology called JFcasting, i.e. a method of rapid controlled cooling, and tested it in cooperation with BUT scientists. Thanks to controlled crystallization and rapid cooling, castings are obtained with a fine structure, free of foundry defects and enjoying top mechanical values. Castings of such quality are used in aviation, optics, medical instruments etc.
ALUCAST, s.r.o. cooperated on innovative technology with a team of scientists comprising Prof. Podrábský, Doc. Pacal and Ing. Liškutín. The technical solution relating to new equipment intended for controlling crystallization and cooling thin-wall castings into shell and ceramic moulds and moulds made by investment casting is protected by patent and as a utility model.
