New vortex turbine

The turbine represents a newly innovated version of a vortex turbine with the option to regulate output by turning the turbine runner blades, either at rest or in operation.

It is intended for river flows with significantly fluctuating flow-rate characteristics. A small hydroelectric power plant with a vortex turbine can be realized either in a direct-flow or sucking version. The advantage or the vortex turbine is its simple construction without a distributor. Owing to higher revolutions, in most cases it is not necessary to opt for a construction equipped with gears. The advantage of the vortex turbine is a high flow-rate at low gradient and simultaneously low initial investment costs compared to standard water turbines. The turbine was made in cooperation with the company Elzaco Šumperk.
