Evolvable Hardware Research Group

Group deals with the theory, SW / HW implementation and application of bio-inspired computing systems, especially those based on evolutionary algorithms and cellular automata.

Unique know-how of the given research unit:

  • Hardware Accelerators for Evolutionary
  • Circuit Design in FPGA
  • Reconfigurable polymorphic integrated circuit
  • Software Tools for Cartesian Genetic
  • Programming
  • Several innovative designs created using evolutionary design algorithms, including “Non-linear filter for (salt & pepper) impulse noise reduction in images“

Thematic focus of the research unit / research team (research interests):

  • Evolutionary design and optimization of digital circuits
  • Adaptive and evolvable hardware in field programmable gate arrays
  • Polymorphic electronics: REPOMO32 chip, synthesis of polymorphic circuits, applications
  • Applications of evolutionary design

Automatic design and optimization of digital circuits and computer programs according requested specification. In many cases we have achieved better results than standard development tools (for instance higher performance, smaller area etc.) Hardware Accelerators for Evolutionary Circuit Design in FPGA Reconfigurable polymorphic integrated circuit Software Tools for Cartesian Genetic Programming Several innovative designs created using evolutionary design algorithms, including “Non-linear filter for (salt & pepper) impulse noise reduction in images”.
