NETME Centre – Division of Power, Process and Environmental Engineering

New Technologies in Mechanical Engineering – Division of Power, Process and Environmental Engineering is focused on applied research and development in the field of the environmental protection, conceptual power supply, power equipment and process engineering.

The basic activity of the division is to develop science and research activities and industrial cooperation in the relevant field. Research is preferably focused on internal topics which have partly emerged out of current long-term successful activities and partly make good future use of the division’s potential. In addition to pursuing our own projects, we expect to participate in solving the various tasks of other divisions and to actively cooperate with the key industrial partners in realizing new and innovative technologies and equipment, bespoke activities and expertise, and joint projects.

We offer the following:

  • Conceptual activities in the field of power systems
  • Researching and developing technologies and equipment for saving energy and reducing harmful emissions in processes of industry and energy industry
  • Increasing the effectiveness of heat circulations
  • Improving thermal comfort in vehicle cabs and building interiors with regard to energy-use, the environment and the economy
  • Application of modern thermal processes in metallurgy and mechanical engineering
  • New technological units for the combustion and gasification of biomass
  • Systems for heat transfer and combustion
  • Computational modelling of fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Designs for apparatuses including the construction solutions, evaluating the different ways of damaging equipment, controlled ageing, including the planning of revision inspections
  • Research into the use of sludge and other biodegradable materials
