The Institute of Manufacturing Technology – Department of Metal Forming and Plastics offers opportunities to cooperate in both basic and applied research, not only in the fields of sheet and volume forming, but the injection of plastics as well. In order to process these we use the technology of cutting, bending, drawing, punching, extruding and forging (loose or die).

We offer the following:

  • Drawing up construction and technological designs for machines and tools in the field of welding technology
  • Conducting experiments, testing, measuring, examinations and overall verification of forming technologies and tools
  • Performing basic forming operations on machines in the laboratory of the heavy press shop
  • Production of parts, verification and testing of tools
  • Measuring mechanical and physical properties when remoulding of materials
  • Measuring hardness and micro-hardness
  • Upsetting tests with evaluation
  • Testing the mechanical behaviour of materials at a high rate of deformation for compress and tensile tests
  • Testing plates and coats using the Erichsen test
  • Measuring the surface structure of metallic and non-metallic materials – also outside the laboratory
  • Measuring the thickness of ultrathin sheets – foils –Interapid instrument
  • Strength analyses of forming tools using FEM
  • Professional training courses at the request of companies

    • MIDI RAYTEK contactless thermal probe with UNIT-8 thermometer
  • Laboratory of hardness measuring - ZWICK 3212 hardness tester with CCD camera and  SwtestExpert software
  • Laboratory of sheet forming and mechanical tests
    • ERICHSEN F-4 equipment – for testing the deep-drawing quality of metal sheets and bands with a HEIDENHAIN scanning unit with a depression determination precision of 0.001 mm
    • Surtronic 3+1 – a mobile device for measuring structural parameters and surface corrugation of both metallic and non-metallic materials; it can be also used for measuring bulky and difficult to handle pieces
