Mail boxes used by Czech Post are distinguished by an angular metal frame enclosing an orange fibreglass box. Students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology, have rejuvenated the mail box design and created a more modern look.

Doc. Robert Gepl of the Institute of Solid Mechanics, Mechatronics and Biomechanics and Ing. Pavel Čoupek, a postgraduate student at the Institute of Machine and Industrial Design at Brno University of Technology, have cooperated in developing a comprehensive robot design. Its innovative concept for an undercarriage gives the new mobile robot a truly unique industrial design.

A very frequent cause of the degradation of buildings is increased moisture in a structure which deteriorates the embedded building materials and causes a worsening of their thermal insulation properties and thus of the structure as a whole. A team led by Prof. Škramlik of the Institute of Building Structures at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, BUT, has developed an apparatus which can precisely and repeatedly measure the moisture parameters of porous building materials.

Robot competitions in MiniSumo are a parallel of Japanese sumo, the twist being that instead of people, it is robots wrestling against each other. The competitors must not control their machines in any way; instead, the machines must be constructed so that they are able to manage the match by themselves. A new robot intended for MiniSumo matches has been developed in Brno University of Technology.

Jakub Novák, a graduate of the Department of Industrial Design at the Institute of Machine and Industrial Design, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology, chose to design a caravan as his diploma project.

Plastic table and plastic chairs – obligatory equipment for a kindergarten or children’s play area. A bit boring, you might think! We are introducing a design which is both furniture and a toy in one. Castles and dragons, tunnels, dens and Wendy houses – fantasy knows no bounds!
