The core of our work is researching, developing and applying in real life diagnostic and testing methods for carrying out construction-static and material surveys of structural elements and complexes of existing building structures (particularly steel-concrete and masonry structures, including bridges). The aim is to achieve an objective evaluation of the actual conditions of a structure, to identify the causes of failures and defects, and to put forward proposals for construction measures to ensure the required reliability, safety and durability of constructions.
The laboratory facilities of the institute enable solutions to a wide spectrum of research projects, e.g. in the experimental analysis of structural elements, parts and models of building structures, protection from ionizing radiation etc.
We offer the following:
- Comprehensive construction-technical surveys and diagnostics of structures using a wide spectrum of nondestructive methods
- Monitoring masonry structures
- Load testing of structures and structural elements, parts and structural models
- Laboratory tests of the physicochemical properties of concretes, cement composites, mortars, grouting mixtures, bricks, timber, steel, tendons, anchoring systems, surface layers etc.
- Laboratory tests of fracture parameters and building materials
- Radiography of steel-concrete structures and experimental radiography
- Radiographic measurement of volumetric weight and moisture
- Design, calculation and inspection of screening against ionizing radiation
- For testing laboratories, participation in programmes of capability testing
- Consultancy and advisory services in the fields of quality control, the environment and safety in companies and testing laboratories, cooperation in the certification of management systems
- Educational courses in lifelong learning with preparation for acquiring the personal certificate “NDT Technician in Civil Engineering” under ČKAIT and/or ČIA, o.p.s. accreditation
- An opportunity to present the results of science and research, practice, products and companies at professional conferences
