Institute of Landscape Water Management


We are engaged in every aspect of water in the landscape.

The Institute of Landscape Water Management deals with such topics as flood-protection within a particular economic system and drainage area, land regulation and the protection of municipalities from the inflow of outside water, water and wind erosion, regulation of water outflow from a drainage area using artificial intelligence methods, pond bodies, fish passages and fish breeding, revitalization in the landscape, irrigation, natural and artificial wetlands, root waste-water treatment plants and applied ecology etc. The institute produces rainfall-outflow procedures, physical soil analyses, investigates the infiltration characteristics of soils, models the flow of contaminated water in the soil and creates software in the field of applied hydrology.

We offer the following:

  • Compiling rainfall-outflow models for predicting and simulating outflow in drainage areas
  • Studies of projects for anti-erosion and flood-protection measures close natural landscapes, including evaluating their effectiveness
  • Projects for the drainage and protection of municipalities from the inflow of extra-regional water
  • Projects for the water-management resolution of water bodies and water-utilization systems
  • Field tests, laboratory analyses and determining physical and hydro-physical properties of soils
  • Resolving the issue of wind and water erosion using the programme environment GIS
  • Volumetric quantification and evaluation of rill erosion and erosion in tracks of concentrated surface outflow
  • Creation of thematic maps and calculations in the field of comprehensive anti-erosion and flood protection
  • Designs for ponds and protective bodies, pond systems, fish passages and fish breeding
  • Simulation of rainfall-outflow action in the laboratory environment using a rain simulator
  • Mathematical and physical modelling of cleaning processes in wetlands and soil environments, flows of contaminated water, heat distribution, studies in the field of natural ways of water cleaning and artificial wetlands

Equipment:

  • Above-standard computer technology (36 computer stations + 3 servers)
  • Both internally produced and standard software applications for meteorological stations
  • Pedology laboratory (two-cylinder infiltrometers, sand tank, overpressure equipment, permeameter, air-conditioning box)
  • Field laboratory (biotopes, wetlands, hydroponic systems, testing filtration columns)
  • Reclining terrain gutter, rain simulator, erosion-meter – erosion bridge
