We particularly focus our research and development activities on finding progressive, technically optimal and cost-effective solutions to structural building problems. We develop and subsequently apply special or unconventional materials in concrete and masonry structures. We carry out diagnostics and produce expert assessments of building works and civil engineering works, including extremely stressed structures (e.g. in nuclear power engineering). We design structural reinforcements and rehabilitation for both modern and historic building structures.
We offer the following:
- Design and mathematical modelling of concrete masonry structures, interaction tasks, earth models
- design, assessment and optimization of steel-concrete or pre-stressed structures – application of deterministic and stochastic procedures
- Risk management of buildings and their realization, pre-construction surveys of buildings, making special “tailor-made” programmes
- Reinforcing and rehabilitating structures; creating technically and economically optimal procedures for reinforcement and rehabilitation
- Designing, making and testing physical models of building structures and their features
- Expert opinions on the statics of buildings, bridges and engineering structures, design work
- Expert opinions on the impact of an aggressive and/or contaminated environment on the functioning of building structures
- Diagnostics and the long-term monitoring of bridges, reservoirs and building works, organizing and leading special problem-solving teams
- Revitalizing concrete panel buildings, surveys, assessments and projects to rehabilitate ‘hurdis’ ceilings
- Designing special concretes – high-strength, with limited shrinking etc.
- Designing special reinforced structures or ones strengthened with composite armature
- Long-term testing of shrinkage and the additional shaping of structural concretes and other building materials
- Designing grouting and related materials for working on building works, special foundations, also in aggressive or contaminated environments
- Training courses as part of lifelong learning, particularly in relation to implementing of the new system of European standards (Eurocodes)
Equipment:
- Special measuring and registering DAQ devices for the automated monitoring of strain, volume changes, tension and other structurally significant physical parameters
- Related mechanical, piezoelectric, capacity, optical, acoustic and magnetoelastic sensors,
- Air-conditioned box enabling the testing of materials in temperature- and humidity-defined conditions
- A hydraulic blocking jack with the range of 0-200 kN
- Hardware and software tools for mathematical modelling structures (statics, dynamics, optimization), including the relevant essential know-how
- Tools for the diagnostics of structures
- Certified methodologies and procedures for monitoring the behaviour of structures and their materials
